Social Media in Religion
A few weeks ago, I posted a devils advocacy piece on a YouTube video called “Why I Hate Religion, but Love Jesus.” This video has swept the world of Catholic Youth by surprise since it was made public. Sadly, it has made such an impact for all of the wrong reasons. Yes, the YouTube video is very well put together and the speaker, Jeff, has great presence, but the video contents lacks knowledge and depth. Jeff’s other videos are fantastic, but this one seems a little off. When you lack knowledge, you lack credibility. Unfortunately, this video makes Jeff look just a little bit less credible.
Moving forward in my own campaign, I would like to embrace YouTube and Twitter. I will tweet more times per day. Not only will the volume of my tweets increase, but the knowledge behind them will as well. When retweeting, I plan to make sure my sources are credible and when tweeting my own thoughts, I will make sure they are spot on.
As far as YouTube, I would really like to share my own thoughts via video, like Jeff, but only time will tell.
Please pray for me on my journey with religious social media.
